KARACHI: On 17th day of ongoing Pakistan Theater Festival, Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, theater plays ‘Gadha Mandi’ and ‘Dinner with Darling’ were presented. Number of audience witnessed plays.
‘Gadha Mandi’ was written by Taufiq ul Hakim and directed by Owais Rehan, while cast of drama included Aqsa Gull, Hassam Irfan, Farhan Rahim, Adil Shakir and Farhan Alam Siddiqui. Tale of thrilling encounters, set against bustling backdrop of market, this tumultuous drama follows path of colourful characters as their paths collide amid mistaken identity and tumultuous misunderstanding, world. With laughter as its currency, ‘Gadha Mandi’ offers delightful mix of funny situations and charming mishaps that capture essence of human folly and joy found in life’s most unexpected interactions.
‘Dinner with Darling’ was written by Babar Jamal and directed by Uzma Sabeen. Cast of play included Owais Mubashir, Farhan Alam Siddiqui, Momina, Rachna Kirpalani, Zarqa Naz and Usman Ranjha. A man planning romantic weekend with his mistress in his wife’s absence makes all kinds of plans for beautiful evening, which leads to series of chaotic accidents and unexpected difficulties.
Dinner with loved one takes you on wild, hilarious chaos that proves that even best-laid plans can lead to most tumultuous results On 18th day of theater festival, director and actor Rehan Sheikh’s play ‘Chandravati’ was presented. Chandravati is story written by late Qudrat ullah Shahab. Rehan Sheikh recited this short story with dramatic style. In story of Chandravati, young Muslim writer’s friendship with Hindu girl, his exploration of great city and how their friendship developed through bi-cycle is told.
Bitter sweet soulful story of love, loss and separation set in Lahore partition, was narrated by Rehan Sheikh in very beautiful way to the audience with help of light and different sounds. Fans appreciated solo performance of Rehan Sheikh.
