Report on beneficiaries of NAB amendment filed in SC

ISLAMABAD: Report in respect of beneficiaries of NAB amendment of this year has been filed in Supreme Court (SC). During current year overall 22 cases were returned by Accountability Courts. In light of NAB amendment 25 cases were shifted to other forums. As per report 12 references were transferred from accountability courts till August 30 in current year.

SC had sought report regarding beneficiaries of NAB amendment on petition filed by Chairman PTI Imran Khan against NAB amendment.

During hearing of case Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial had remarked amendments were made with extreme intelligence. CJP was reduced into rubber stamp through legislation. There was such bad thing in NAB amendment which opened doors of this court.

Beneficiaries of NAB amendment include former President Asif Zardari and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. Report says cases of Manzoor Qadir Kaka, Khurshid Anwar Jamali and Khawaja Anwar Majeed were returned by accountability courts.

Fake accounts case of prime accused Hussain Lawai also did not fall in NAB jurisdiction. Following NAB amendment Park Lane reference against former President Asif Ali Zardari was also returned by accountability court.
