Rehman to supervise national team’s training camp for New Zealand series

LAHORE: Pakistan’s head coach for the recently-concluded T20I series against Afghanistan Abdul Rehman will supervise the national men’s team’s training camp for the home T20I series against New Zealand. According to the details, the team’s training camp will commence here on Friday while the players have been directed to report at National Cricket Academy (NCA) by tomorrow.

Grant Bradburn, the national men’s team’s potential assistant coach is likely to join the squad on April 11 while Rehman will serve as his assistant coach following the former’s arrival. Whereas, Abdul Majeed will continue his duty as the fielding coach.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan pacer Umar Gul, who was named as the bowling coach in the team’s coaching setup for the recently-held Afghanistan series will reach here tomorrow and continue his role with the national team. Former South African cricketer Andrew Puttick will take up the role of the team’s batting coach upon his arrival here.

It is pertinent to mention that the green shirts will take on New Zealand in a five-match each T20I and ODI series, which will be played in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi from 14 April to 7 May.

Senior players including the trio of captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi returned to the squads for the home T20I and ODI series against New Zealand.
