Rehabilitation of flood-hit population big challenge: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said rehabilitation of flood victims and reconstruction of damaged infrastructure is big challenge for developing country like Pakistan. PM expressed these views chairing review meeting on backdrop of Resilient Pakistan Conference to be held in Geneva next month.
PM said that hundreds of lives and billions of dollars had been lost this year due to flash floods in Pakistan. He vowed to make every possible effort to accomodate flood-struck population.
At climate change conference in Geneva, he said, government would convey to world plight of Pakistan’s flood-hit people. Proposals and detailed plan of action regarding conference were presented before meeting. Meeting was informed that participation of friendly countries as well as development partners and international financial institutions isalso expected in conference. He directed to finalise action plan of conference on priority. Ministers including Ishaq Dar, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Ahsan Iqbal, Sherry Rehman, Marriyum Aurangzeb, State Minister Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, Special Assistants Syed Tariq Fatemi, Jahanzeb Khan, Syed Fahd Hussain and concerned senior officials were present.
Meanwhile, Sherry Rehman called on Prime Minister here. She briefed PM about preparations for international conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan. She discussed matters relating to Ministry of Climate Change.
Earlier, Adviser to Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Qamar Zaman Kaira also called on PM here. They discussed matters pertaining to Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan as well as overall political situation of country.
