Rehabilitation centres for drug addicts to be established across Sindh: CS Dr Sohail

KARACHI: Sindh government decided to establish rehabilitation centres in different areas of province to address menace of rising number of drug addicts. According to details, it has been decided to establish rehabilitation centres for drug addicts in Sindh. Establishment of the rehabilitation centre will be started from Karachi and centres will be managed by Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF).
This decision was taken in meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Secretary Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput. Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon, Secretary Information Abdul Rashid Solangi, Secretary School, Secretary College Education, Secretary Social Welfare, Secretary Works Services, officials ANF and others participated in meeting.
Officials of ANF informed 201 cases have been registered in province so far in 2022, in which 194 people have also been arrested. They informed that 578 Kg heroin, 10927 KG hashish, 30 KG opium and 89 KG metha have been recovered. They informed that 35.5 acres poppy destroyed and 1.500 Kg doddy seized in various parts of province. Media awareness campaign will be launched for prevention of drugs, for which a 4-member committee was formed under chairmanship of Secretary Information. Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput said that an awareness campaign will be started in media, social media, schools, colleges and universities regarding menace of drugs. He directed Secretary Works and Services to complete work of rehabilitation centres in Malir and Manghopir by December 1 and hand over centre to ANF.
