Registrar, Cooperative Societies to submit forensic audit of Karimabad Ismailia Society with SHC

KARACHI: High Court of Sindh adjourned the hearing of Karimabad Ismailia Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd. to November 12, 2024 when the report of forensic audit of the account of said society shall be filed in the Court by Registrar, Cooperative Housing Societies Sindh.
Respondent of the case; Registrar, Cooperative Housing Societies Sindh Abdul Wajid Ali Sheikh appeared before the Court and submitted his written statement in compliance with Court orders dated October 09, 2024 passed by the Court in Miscellaneous Appeal No. 97 of 2024. With his statement Registrar prayed to dismiss the instant Appeal filed by former chairman of the Society; Malik Mehdi Muhammad.
It may be mentioned here that Appellant Malik Mehdi Muhammad had filed a complaint in the Court against his illegal removal from the position of Chairman, Karimabad Ismailia Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd.
Earlier, he had filed a complaint to the Chairman, Enquiries & Anti-Corruption Establishment, Sindh to conduct enquiry of corruption prevailed by management of Karimabad Ismailia Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd. with the help of some unscrupulous elements. On his complaint Director Enquiries-II of the Establishment had issued a call up notice on 13 February 2023, but the end result was never known. However, on April 5, 2024 the former Registrar Zameer Ahmed Abbasi had removed Malik Mehdi Muhammad from the position of Chairman, Karimabad Ismailia Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd. with immediate effect.
Zameer Abbasi on the same date issued another Order to conduct Special Audit of the Society since May 9, 2023, the period of the incumbent management of the society. But even after lapse of more than seventeen (17) months the Audit process was not initiated by Registrar Office, informed sources from the KISMCSL disclosed. They further stated that audit of the accounts of society was never held in the past too for which the government officials of the Registrar Office were found responsible.
