KARACHI: Despite prohibition orders of the Sindh High Court Shahzad Tharani illegally using his name as ‘chairman’ Karimabad Ismailia Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited (KIMCSL) ST2 and misguiding the members of society. In further violation of the Court orders he has called 9th Annual General Body meeting (AGM) on 28th December 2024.

“These criminal activities are very much in knowledge of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, controlling authority; appointed by government of Sindh but he is not fulfilling his lawful duties,” Malik Mehdi, elected chairman of society and petitioner in Sindh High Court disclosed this while talking to daily National Courier. He said that on 20th December 2024 he has already submitted this contempt complaint to Registrar Cooperative Societies but he did not bother to take any suitable action against the offenders.

Copies of this complaint were also dispatched to the Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, his advisor on Cooperatives Ehsan Ur Rehman Mazari, and Director General SBCA. But so far there was complete silence on their behalf, Malik added.

It may be mentioned here that Members of KIMCSL ST2 have consistently expressed their concerns and objections regarding Administrative Committee's conduct with connivance of the corrupt officials of Registrar Societies Sindh. Committee's actions involving misuse of millions of rupees collected from Society Members not only undermine principles of transparency and fairness but also eroded trust and confidence among society members.

The members of Society were agitating that corrupt officials of the Committee have announced to hold 9th AGM of the society on 28-12-2024 for approval of two years’ accounts of the society but no copy of the accounts were prepared nor provided with agenda. Similarly, no names of internal auditors were announced for their appointment. It wants to discuss about illegal revision of 1998 Building Plan of the society but no document was distributed to members to study its proposals. Except one single page of AGM Notice there was no other document of agenda issued to General Body Members which is clear violation of AGM rules and regulations but Registrar Cooperative Societies was not considering hearing the objections they raised against this unlawful situation, members of the Society disclosed.
