KARACHI: Administrative and financial affairs of Karimabad Ismailia Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited (KIMCSL) are going from bad to worse due to inept attitude of officials of Sindh Government Registrar of Societies.  According to letter addressed to Jahanzeb Baloch, last Administrator/ Election Officer for KIMCSL members of Society have requested for Audited Report and Accounts of KIMCSL, but Registrar Office did not bother to reply while he was sole controller of all administrative and financial matters of Society for last many years.

Shabbir Nathwani was candidate for Chairman Position in Society Committee elections held on May 7, 2023, he is member KIMCSL. On June 14, 2023 in his letter addressed to Jahanzeb Baloch, he recalled that KIMCSL Committee was superseded by Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Sindh in January 2019, and since then, society had been under administration of Registrar of Cooperatives representative as Administrator till Jahanzeb Baloch handed over charge on May 9, 2023. Even though he knew case was pending in court regarding election processes adopted by him as electability of at least 4 candidates namely Malik Mehdi, Imran Arwan Panjwani, Fehmida Imam Yaar Baig and Ali Asghar Chagani besides Gulshan Ali as she was allowed for same reason that I had been refused, which was clear misuse of your (Jahanzeb Baloch's) Authority, Shabbir Nathwani said. Shabbir Nathwani requested Administrator/Election Officer for issuing full audit report of accounts of KIMCSL ST2 for period from January 2019 to May 9, 2023. He added it is essential that audit report be made available to all members of Society to ensure transparency.

"I am aware of mandatory requirement for outgoing administrator to submit report of audited accounts to Society before handing over charge to new Committee. It is my understanding that you have fulfilled this obligation by submitting report to Society and I appreciate your adherence to this important procedure. However, in order to have access to necessary financial information, you are requested that you provide us with copy of audit report and accounts. This will enable me and members of society to study and analyse financial status and performance of KIMCSL during specified period, facilitating well-informed decision-making process," Shabbir added.

"I understand importance of transparency and accountability in affairs of cooperative society. By providing requested audit report and accounts, you would not only fulfill your responsibilities as former Administrator/Election Officer but also uphold democratic values and principles of our society," letter concluded.
