Karachi: Former President Arif Alvi reacting to allegations leveled by various political heavyweights over alleged breach of constitutional mandate welcomed possibility of facing prosecution under Article 6.

Addressing presser at his residence here, Dr Alvi reiterated his longstanding efforts towards fostering national unity, stating, “I have always endeavored to unite country, as I firmly believe that Pakistan’s progress hinges upon its unity.”

He also stressed importance of releasing founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf as significant step towards achieving this goal.

Speaking about his adherence to principles in politics, former President highlighted his stance against corruption, underscoring it as fundamental principle that he has consistently upheld.

“I have always stayed against corruption and I have remained committed to this principle throughout my political career,” he asserted.

Responding to allegations and possibility of facing prosecution under Article 6, Dr. Arif Alvi remained resolute, stating, “If there are allegations against me, there are courts to address them.

If prosecution under Article 6 is deemed necessary, I welcome it.” “Political tension in country must be alleviated, especially considering decline in economy over past few years,” Alvi remarked. Reiterating his commitment to meritocracy, Dr. Arif Alvi emphasised, “Merit has always been my priority.

I have no preference other than adhering to principles.” Dr Alvi stressed importance of accepting mandates of political parties and called for fair trial of pending cases, including those about founder of PTI.

“Pakistan is facing challenging times and we must come together as nation. Unity of Pakistan should be our utmost priority,” he concluded.
