In recent interview, Raveena Tandon discussed how people told her she overstated extent of body shaming in Bollywood. Actress admitted to Smita Prakash that she doesn’t care about appearing ‘Plump’ during their talk. She claimed, “Viciousness” of journalism in 1990s completely infuriated her and she left field after getting married.
Although Raveena occasionally talked about how she struggled in industry because of how she looked, most people didn’t really believe her. She was quoted by news outlet ANI as stating, “I was plump actually. Started at 16 and half years and I was full of baby fat yaar which still hasn’t gone. Though I don’t care now, I am being like that, I am like that, too bad!”
She added, “I remember some of these titles. And not only me, but some other heroines are also called that. Besides that, instead of supporting women, what they did was firstly all these women editors would fall in love with heroes.
Regarding old magazines, Raveena also revealed that certain women were “Worst” rivals to other women since they body-shamed and slut-shamed others in an effort to pull them down.
She is now working on Ghudchadi, film starring Sanjay Dutt. She co-stars with Satish Kaushik in Arbaaz Khan’s Patna Shukla. –Agencies
