As 21st century looms ahead, it is clear to see that it has advancements that humanity may never have dreamed of and one of these shining developments is well-recognised computer. Having Latin meaning of ‘computing’ or ‘reckoning’ computer is an invention that was called ‘MAN OF THE YEAR’ in a survey carried out by an international magazine.

Computer system is not a simple machine. It is like a very modern and highly complex calculator. It can do all functions at a speedy rate and also helps us to search and progress in our homes and businesses.

These days being computer literate is more important than it ever has been in last few years that computers have been around. Almost everything is becoming computer reliant and there are several businesses that have embraced technology. Computer literacy isn’t something that you can easily escape, and honestly you shouldn’t try to. Humans are all about adapting and computers are just one more thing we all have to learn to adapt to Unfortunately, everyone doesn’t understand that so it’s vital to understand importance of being computer literate. Almost everyone uses a computer these days due to how vital they are in some everyday tasks these days.

There was a time when computers were only heard of as a luxury. However today they are an unavoidable part of success and development. No longer are they owned only through theft and by filthy rich, in fact computers are and will in coming days and months be used to accomplish brilliant goals of success and unparalleled development.

It would be smart to introduce computer skills right from beginning. Opening computer’s up to kindergartens allows them to become familiar with computers. Making a base is important and from there they can develop more skills in grade one and on. If we can train our younger generation to become familiar and computer literate we will be able to achieve higher standards in our industries. Therefore better results in our world around us.

Information technology is more of a general term of a description to skills required for today’s students. Computer literacy is specific to computer itself. Information technology can also refer to other technology including photocopy machines, fax machines, printers etc. This is also a good idea for students to learn however may not be a better description for computer literacy.

There are many clear advantages to being computer literate in 21st century. For many people, it’s easier to find an office job that involves use of a computer if they are already computer literate .

Naturally, being able to use a computer will put you at a distinct advantage when you apply for these kinds of positions. Not only can computer literacy make you more desirable to employers for office jobs, it may allow you to find ways to work from home if you have a reliable Internet connection.

NEW MEDIA: For many young people, computers are replacing television as go-to source of entertainment. Teenagers are arguably more likely to watch videos on YouTube than flip through TV channels, and services such as Netflix allow people to watch TV shows and movies any time they want as long as they have a reliable Internet connection. In many ways, computers and Internet represents future of entertainment and those who don’t take time to become computer literate may be left behind.

COMMUNICATION: Are you familiar with accessing Internet on computer? Yes! Then you must be good at doing various sorts of work including messaging, surfing, searching and many other works. Having, Computer knowledge means that you can do so many tasks at same time.
IT EMPOWERS CHILDREN: When children know how to use a computer, they also know how to look for valuable information which they find interesting. This means that children can expand their knowledge on topics which they find interesting and not just topics that are taught in class at school. This is extremely empowering as it fosters curiosity and independence. However, it’s important to ensure that your child only has access to age-appropriate information or is reasonably supervised when not in a formal learning environment.

Advantage of computers can also be seen in fact that they might just be able to improve administration through world. By providing daily accurate information to administration departments, computers may change way decisions are taken across globe. Keeping all above mentioned things in mind, we must accept that if used right way, computers are a gift of science to mankind.
