MUMBAI: Ace producer, film-maker Aditya Chopra clearly doesn’t seem to limit himself as he is set to make his Broadway debut with ‘Come Fall In Love’ in San Diego. Musical has kick-started at The Old Globe Theatre in San Diego and getting some great feedback including standing ovations. Little wonder then, than Rani Mukerji has headed to San Diego to witness husband Aditya’s Broadway debut live.
Chopra’s thought behind this initiative was need for cultural unification, especially in world we are living in today which is getting toxic. In an earlier statement, Chopra had confessed that he wanted to make ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge’ originally as a Hollywood love story in order to make the global audience aware of our Indian culture. But today, he reimagined story as a Broadway musical. This time his characters are Roger and Simran, played by Austin Colby and Shoba Narayan respectively. Interestingly, Narayan had played Princess Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin before this. It’s a musical hence, song and dance would play an essential part of it and Vishal-Sheykhar are composing for it. Shruti Merchant is choreographing this musical. Interestingly, musical has 18 songs. Now certainly fans of ‘DDLJ’ would be hoping that they’d get to witness this musical even in India.
