LAHORE: Rana Sanaullah senior PML-N leader said they were against targeting political parties, but questioned whether any party or leader involved in violence should be spared only because that person was to participate in elections.
In statement, Rana shared his principled stance that no political party and leader should be targeted before and after elections. "We are against targeting political parties. But if party or leader attacks national security, disrespect martyrs' statues, then should no case [legal process] be initiated against him because he is to participate in election?" He explained his point of view with obvious reference to PTI in connection with May 9 events.
"Where was Nawaz Sharif when elections were held on July 25, 2018?" He remarked and recalled that then Prime Minister was disqualified over Iqama and PML-N's Senate candidates for having dual nationality. "Everything is on record."
Rana said PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif would arrive in Lahore on October 21 and later reach Minar-e-Pakistan for addressing rally, thus launching his party's election campaign.
He noted that all cases in which Nawaz had been nominated were bogus, adding that current state of affairs in Pakistan was product of conspiracy hatched against former Prime Minister.
