LAHORE: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination slammed the CEO of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Faisal Hasnain for the absence of the PCB chairman Ramiz Raja and the board’s failure to submit audit reports.
The committee expressed its displeasure with the PCB Chairman Ramiz’s non-participation in a meeting presided over by the committee chairman, Malik Nawab Sher Waseer. The PCB CEO Faisal informed the committee that he is representing Ramiz in his absence and is willing to respond to every query. In response to his statement, Dr Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto asked PCB CEO about his knowledge regarding the commitment made by the PCB Chairman to the committee, while remaining furious over the latter’s response. “Do you know about the commitment made by Chairman PCB to the committee?” Dr Mahreen asked Faisal. “Details of annual expenses and allowances of PCB have been provided,” Faisal responded.
The chairman of inter-provincial coordination interrupted the conversation Faisal’s remarks and slammed the latter for responding inappropriately to the question. “When did the committee ask about the audit reports? It must be informed that where is that audit report about which the PCB had assured the committee? Malik Nawab questioned Faisal. Faisal, as a result, informed the committee that the PCB officials do not have the audit reports at this time. “What a joke, the committee is not being answered. PCB pays in dollars, officials travel in business class but pays no heed to the committee,” Dr Mahreen reacted furiously. Ehsan Mazari, the federal IPC minister, continued by criticising PCB chairman Ramiz and asserting that the latter is on vacation in England while mandating that he appear before the committee when he gets back.
“PCB Chairman is enjoying holidays in England. Ramiz Raja should be called before the committee after his return,” he concluded.
