Top Pakistani YouTuber Rajab Butt is facing legal action after the launch of his perfume, ‘295’, which has sparked widespread controversy.
The case was filed against Butt under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and Section 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with blasphemy laws. The case was registered at the Nishtar Colony Police Station following the backlash surrounding the perfume’s name.
The product, named after Section 295 of the Pakistan Penal Code-related to blasphemy-has angered various communities. Critics argue that Butt’s choice of name was provocative, with many claiming that it was an intentional attempt to stir controversy.
The association of the perfume with the late Indian singer Sidhu MooseWala, who faced similar legal issues, further fueled the backlash.
Ramzan Bhatti, who filed the complaint, accused Butt of deliberately provoking religious sentiments by using the term ‘295’, which many consider an insult to the blasphemy laws.
The controversy has grown rapidly, with protests and heated debates over the potential harm caused by the perfume’s branding.
Butt’s actions have drawn attention to the intersection of social media, business, and sensitive cultural issues, raising questions about the limits of free speech and the responsibility of content creators in Pakistan. As the case progresses, the YouTuber faces mounting legal challenges and public scrutiny.
