SUKKUR: Minister for Railway Khawaja Saad Rafique said yesterday suspended train operation amidst floods will take few weeks for resumption. Talking to reporters yesterday, minister said situation could only be clarified if flood water is drained. “We cannot run passenger trains at moment,” he said categorically. He said that Railway infrastructure in Sindh and Balochistan is damaged most.
“We cannot play with peoples’ lives,” he maintained. Rafique urged nation to fight this calamity ‘brave heartedly’ and said that we have to trust our resources. He revealed that current Railway deficit was around 13 billion rupees. Minister criticised previous PTI government and argued that former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his team had ruined country’s economy. He said that at least 15 years were required to rebuild Railway’ department.
