Railways facilitates 2,400 Sikh pilgrims for Baisakhi celebrations

LAHORE: Pakistan Railways transported 2,400 Sikh pilgrims to Hassan Abdaal via special trains. Earlier, these Sikh pilgrims entered Pakistan via Wagah Border crossing from India to participate in celebrations of Baisakhi festival.
According to spokesperson for PR, Sikh pilgrims were welcomed at Wagah Railway Station by senior officials of railways and Evacuee Trust Property Board.
During their approximately one-week stay, Sikh pilgrims will visit their sacred sites.
On occasion, Sikh guests expressed satisfaction with arrangements made by Pakistan Railways.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his heartfelt felicitations to Sikh community on auspicious occasion of Baisakhi. In message of warmth and inclusivity, he has stated it as festival of love, kindness and jubilations.
He emphasised significance of Baisakhi, describing desi month of Baisakh as symbol of love, spring, and sharing of happiness.
He proudly acknowledged Pakistan's rich tapestry of diverse faiths and cultures, stating that vibrant colours of Baisakhi festival only serve to enhance beauty of diversity and inclusion within nation.
