ISLAMABAD: Following the breakdown of negotiations between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government, detained PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi has called for a “national consensus” to address the political crisis facing the country.
“At the moment, we need a national agenda and consensus on it... no individual has the capacity to deal with the challenges,” said Qureshi, the former foreign minister, who made the remarks during an interview from his detention cell in Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail.
The PTI ended its talks with the PML-N-led government last month due to the government’s failure to form judicial commissions to investigate incidents on May 9, 2023, and November 24-27, 2023, as per the written agreements. The dialogue between the two sides, which began in late December 2024 following months of political unrest, faltered after three rounds of talks.
