Punjab to provide incentives to farmers: Caretaker CM

LAHORE: Punjab caretaker government in meeting decided to give special incentives package to farmers to increase area for cotton cultivation and production.

Punjab government is also considering proposal to give agricultural easy loans to farmers. Detailed plan has been requested from Bank of Punjab on proposal of easy loans. Chief Minister in meeting tasked each division and district to achieve target of cotton area under cultivation. According to Mohsin Naqvi, minimum support price of cotton has been fixed at Rs 8,500 for which assistance will also be sought from federal government. He also directed to ensure availability of certified cotton seed.

Furthermore, Mohsin Naqvi gave go-ahead to conduct vigorous campaign to expand cotton-sowing area. Meeting presided over by Punjab CM Mohsin Naqvi in London before his departure to Lahore also directed immediate mobilisation of Agriculture Department and Administration.
