Punjab sets minimum wage at Rs32,000

LAHORE: On directions of caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, provincial government has increased minimum wage to Rs 32,000. A notification to this effect was also issued by Punjab government. According to notification, minimum wage has been raised by Rs 7,000 to Rs 32,000 which will come into effect with immediately. Minimum wage was fixed at 25,000 earlier. Last year, Punjab government announced 30 percent increase in salaries of government employees.
Government announced 15 percent disparity allowance along with 15 percent additional salary, which will be available to employees of certain government departments. Provincial Cabinet also approved 15 percent hike in pensions against proposed increase of 5 percent.
