LAHORE: The Punjab government has extended the ‘Maryam Ki Dastak’ programme to 32 districts, a decision made on the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The programme, which previously covered key cities, now includes 10 additional districts: Rahim Yar Khan, Vehari, Lodhran, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Rajanpur, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Gujrat, and Khushab. Chairing a progress review meeting in Lahore, Faisal Yousaf, Chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), emphasized that the initiative aims to enhance public service delivery through trained representatives, ensuring more efficient and citizen-friendly services. The programme is part of the government’s commitment to providing accessible, transparent, and tech-driven public services. ‘Maryam Ki Dastak’ now offers over 65 government services that can be availed directly at citizens’ doorsteps, reducing the need to visit government offices.
This is especially beneficial for women, the elderly, and working professionals. Citizens can access these services by calling the helpline at 1202. Previously, the programme was available in major districts, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and Sargodha. The expansion reflects the government’s focus on improving service delivery across the province, ensuring convenience for people in rural and underserved areas. In related news, on October 28, CM Maryam Nawaz launched the ‘Kisan Card Programme’ in Hafizabad, providing financial support to small farmers, with loans of up to Rs 150,000 per season. The initiative aims to assist farmers in purchasing seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides.
