LAHORE: Punjab government introduced ‘Roshan Gharana’ programme, in which electricity consumers across province using up to 500 units will get solar panels on easy installments.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has summoned meeting of Punjab cabinet today for formal approval of ‘Roshan Gharana’ programme. Scheme will provide solar panels to households consuming up to 500 units of electricity, with government bearing 90 percent of cost and consumer paying remaining 10 percent. According to programme, solar panels will be provided to consumers in easy installments over five years, with relatively lower installment amount in winters. Decision to launch ‘Roshan Gharana’ programme was taken to provide relief to consumers facing high electricity bills and energy crisis. Government will prioritise low-income households in its first phase. In statement CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz said that government will not leave public alone in difficult times.  “Government aims to mitigate effects of past destruction and ensure that public does not face such issues in future”, she added.
