LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi yesterday rejected resignation tendered by PTI lawmaker Hasnain Hasnain Dreshak as provincial minister for livestock and dairy development after verbal spat with him. Chief Minister in a statement said Mr Dreshak would continue to perform his responsibilities as Cabinet member. He also praised PTI lawmaker as competent Minister of his cabinet, saying he was running his Ministry in better way. “Sardar Hasnain Bahadar Dreshak is like Moonis Elahi for me,” he said.
Development comes as PTI has announced that Mr Elahi, who was reinstated by Lahore High Court on Friday by suspending Governor Balighur Rehman’s notification, would obtain vote of confidence from the assembly. To this, PTI and PML-Q are required to show required numbers in Assembly to win trust vote.
Last week, Mr Dreshak resigned from post after heated exchange with CM at Cabinet meeting. PTI leader engaged in war of words with Chief Minister when latter cut in on his conversation at meeting. At point, Minister rose to his seat and left meeting midway out of anger.
Sources said several ministers were trying to express their views at time but CM suggested that there should only be one person talking at time. But, his call for following discipline was ignored and Mr Dreshak started speaking again. When he was interrupted by CM again, he announced his resignation from position in protest.
