Public health among top priorities: Taha Saleem

KARACHI: Deputy Commissioner and Administrator District Central Taha Saleem said that health of people is one of top priorities. Zaheer Ahmed, Deputy Director Sanitation New Karachi Aslam Baig, Deputy Director North Karachi Muhammad Ali and other relevant officers were also present in meeting.

Taha Saleem directed to make spraying campaign effective, it is necessary to spray disinfectant between Asr and Maghrib, so that elimination of pests that spread epidemic and deadly diseases can be ensured.

 He said that due to continuous rains for last four months, in view of breeding of mosquitoes spreading malaria and Dengue virus in city, disinfectant spraying will be done in a phased manner in all union committees of district. Residents of central district can be protected from Dengue, chikungunya, malaria, diarrhea and other diseases.

He thanked Sindh government and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation for providing complete relief to Ahlian Central District during rains and for providing vehicles and fumigation machines for disinfectant spray campaign keeping in mind health of people.

Instructing officers of Sanitation Department he said that during spraying campaign, spraying should be made possible through manual spraying machines at places where it is difficult for spraying vehicles to go. It is important to raise awareness and awareness among people and immediately send a spray team to areas where complaints of non-spraying are being received.

It should be clear that spraying campaign is going on according to schedule arranged at different places of district, according to schedule, spraying campaign will be conducted in New Karachi zone today, on August 20, Gulberg zone, August 21, North Nazimabad zone and August 22 it will be done in Liaquatabad zone. Cooperation of district administration is also being sought to make spraying campaign effective and successful so that spraying can be carried out on an equal basis in all parts of city through an integrated strategy.
