PESHAWAR: On Friday, police apprehended Kamran Bangash, a former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, in Peshawar.
The arrest followed a raid on Bangash's residence in the Chamkani area of Peshawar, based on information suggesting the presence of individuals wanted by the authorities. Bangash was subsequently taken to the Chamkani police station.
Notably, Kamran Bangash is currently facing cases initiated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
In a related development, the Peshawar High Court, in response to a petition filed by Kamran Bangash's brother Afnan Bangash, instructed law enforcement agencies, including the police, not to take any "illegal" actions against the family members of the former provincial minister and PTI leader. The petition alleged unlawful raids on their residence and harassment of family members by the police. The court directed the law enforcement agencies to handle the petitioner and his family members in accordance with the law.
Kamran Bangash had gone into hiding following violent protests on May 9-10, during which the police filed several cases against him and other PTI leaders.
