Islamabad: US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome called on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf senior Vice-President Fawad Chaudhry at his residence, it emerged.

A photo of meeting was shared by Fawad’s wife, Hiba Chaudhry on her twitter handle. “Great to meet Donald Blome US Ambassador to Pakistan at our place,” she wrote in caption. In statement, Fawad confirmed development, saying meeting with US envoy took place five or six days ago. Earlier in February this year, Fawad confirmed that he held meeting with Ambassador Donald Blome and other senior officials, focusing on worsening human rights situation in Pakistan.

Taking to twitter, former Information Minister said, “Had good meeting with US Ambassador and senior officials. Worsening HR [human rights] situation in Pakistan was particular focus of discussion.”

PTI leader said that he informed US officials of party’s concerns regarding “misuse of anti-terrorism and blasphemy laws by Pakistan Democratic Movement-led government against political opponents”.

Meeting came as PTI is seeking to mend its ties with US after initially accusing US of toppling Imran khan-led government in April last year.
