Meeting which will be attended by members of both house of Parliament will prepare strategy regarding joint session. A day earlier, President Arif Alvi returned Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure), Bill 2023 limiting Chief Justice’s suo motu powers in an individual capacity. President returned bill for reconsideration to Parliament as per provisions of Article 75 of Constitution days after it was sent to him for approval after it sailed through National Assembly and Senate amid noisy protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf legislators.
Arif Alvi stated that Bill prima-facie travels beyond competence of Parliament and can be assailed as colourable legislation.
