Karachi: Aftab Siddiqui President PTI Karachi chapter has wrote letter addressed to Speaker, National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, intimating him that nine PTI MNAs from Karachi will attend lower house session scheduled on April 26.
“We have right to attend Assembly’s session, after suspension of the Speaker’s order,” letter read. “Speaker’s notification is not required after Sindh High Court’s ruling,” according to letter.
“We will protest and initiate legal proceedings, if prevented from attending National Assembly session,” PTI sources have said.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf succeeded in gaining temporary relief from Sindh High Court (SHC) in March as court suspended an ECP notification of accepting resignations of nine MNAs of party.
SHC Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh headed two-member bench that heard pleas of PTI lawmakers against acceptance of their resignations.
Party MNAs tendered en masse resignations protesting ouster of PTI Chief Imran Khan by vote of no confidence in National Assembly in April last year.
PTI’s members from Karachi later, approached High Court against NA Speaker’s accepting their resignations and holding of by-elections on vacant seats.
