Islamabad: Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party for not presenting single recommendation during seven meetings of special committee on proposed constitutional amendment.

In statement on social media platform X, he said those opposing amendment had failed to point out any clause that undermines fundamental human rights, public interest, Constitution’s spirit, or judicial independence. “Issue of 26th Constitutional Amendment is being viewed solely through lens of partisan politics, while PTI did not submit single suggestion or recommendation during seven meetings of special committee,” he said. He remarked that some people appear unwilling to ease hardships of thousands of prisoners and restore rightful status of Parliament in democratic parliamentary system.
