LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expelled Salman Ahmed from the party, citing his public remarks against the party leadership.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar announced that the decision was made after Ahmed made statements criticizing the party’s founder, his wife, and the party itself. A spokesperson for PTI confirmed that Salman Ahmed’s basic membership had been revoked, and he is no longer authorized to represent the party in any capacity.

The move follows his condemnation of the violence that occurred on May 9, 2023, a day marked by protests and clashes involving PTI supporters after the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Salman Ahmed, a musician and former PTI leader, had previously expressed his disapproval of the violence and publicly distanced himself from the actions of party workers. The expulsion reflects the party’s firm stance against public criticism of its leadership and members who speak against the core values or engage in actions that undermine the party’s integrity. The termination of his membership signals PTI’s commitment to maintaining discipline and loyalty among its members, especially in the aftermath of the tumultuous events surrounding Imran Khan’s arrest.
