LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has strongly criticised what he perceives as “Complete breakdown of our justice system.”
He has characterised return of Nawaz Sharif, leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to country as fulfillment of ‘London agreement.’
In statement initially released by his family but subsequently tweeted from official PTI account, Imran Khan expressed his concerns about current state of legal system.
He stated, “My fellow Pakistanis! In recent days, we have witnessed blatant disregard for law. What is unfolding before us is not merely execution of London ‘plan’ but London ‘agreement’ that was signed between fugitive and corrupt criminal, along with their collaborators.”
This statement was made six days after Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan from self-imposed exile in London, which lasted for four years, commencing on October 21.
PTI Chairman expressed his disappointment regarding leniency shown to PML-N leader, stating, “Only way convicted criminal can be allowed to reenter politics with clean slate is by undermining state’s institutions. Consequently, what we are witnessing is complete breakdown of our justice system.”
Furthermore, former PM asserted, “My fellow Pakistanis! Please remember that all cases against me are entirely baseless and motivated by political interests, fabricated solely to keep me incarcerated either until after elections or potentially much longer.
PTI Chief also shared information about his health during his time in jail, assuring, “Currently, I am in good physical condition. I would certainly notice any signs of weakness in my body.”
