Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan, has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking the suspension of the trial court's verdict in the Toshakhana case.

It contends that the omission of not recording the contentions of the petitioner's counsel regarding the suspension of the impugned order on August 5, 2023, and the subsequent failure to mention it in the order on August 28, 2023, is a glaring oversight.

Furthermore, it points out that the IHC's verdict on August 28 had only suspended Imran Khan's sentence and not the trial court's order. The petition requests the court to rectify this omission.

The petition also argues that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued the disqualification order hastily, despite the conviction not having reached its finality.

Regarding the Toshakhana verdict, on August 5, the District and Sessions Court sentenced Imran Khan to three years in jail in the Toshakhana criminal case and imposed a fine of Rs 100,000. Additionally, the court declared the former prime minister ineligible to hold public office for five years.
