RAWALPINDI: In a significant development, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister has been transferred to Adiala Jail, following an order issued by Chief Justice Amir Farooq of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in connection with the cipher case.
Imran Khan's legal counsel, Sher Afzal Marwat, confirmed that he is now lodged in a specially arranged room at Adiala Jail, complete with an attached bathroom and other essential amenities.
During the hearing, Chief Justice Amir Farooq questioned the reasons for Imran Khan's detention in Attock Jail, insisting that his current status as an undertrial necessitated his placement in Adiala Jail alongside other individuals awaiting trial.
The court further sought clarification from Additional Attorney General Munawar Iqbal regarding the original court order in the Toshakhana case, which had designated Adiala Jail for Imran Khan's custody.
In response, the Additional Attorney General explained that Imran Khan had been detained in connection with the cipher case, and his current detention in Attock Jail was in compliance with a court directive.
Subsequently, in his remarks, Chief Justice Amir Farooq ordered Imran Khan's transfer to Adiala Jail. This development marks a significant turn of events in the ongoing legal proceedings against the former prime minister.
