KARACHI: Pakistan State Oil (PSO) is grappling with an overwhelming amount of unpaid dues, which have now surpassed a staggering Rs. 700 billion.

Recent reports reveal that PSO is actively pursuing the collection of approximately Rs. 765 billion from various sources, encompassing government entities and other organizations.

One prominent debtor is Northern Sui, with a hefty liability of Rs. 487 billion owed to PSO, underscoring the immense sums involved in these financial transactions. The power sector also contributes significantly to PSO's financial complexities, carrying a liability of Rs. 184 billion.

Notably, in the past ten days, the Pakistan International Airline (PIA) made a payment of over Rs. 1.4 billion to PSO. However, it's worth mentioning that the national flag carrier, PIA, still has an outstanding debt of Rs. 26.8 billion to PSO. In addition to PIA, various other institutions collectively owe PSO a substantial amount of Rs. 669 billion.
