ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted five-day protective bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Chief Imran Khan in nine cases registered by capital police. Court also granted fourteen days protective bail to PTI head in murder case of lawyer registered by Quetta police against him.

IHC’s bench stopped police from arresting Imran Khan and also directed Imran Khan to approach relevant trial courts for further relief during given time period.

Single-member bench comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard bail petitions of Imran Khan in nine FIRs. PTI Chairman Imran Khan appeared before court wherein foolproof security arrangements had been made by police. At outset of hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar Advocate argued that six cases had been registered against his client after May 9.

He said that this court in bail case had ordered Imran Khan to appear before trial court in judicial complex instead of F-8 Kachehri. He prayed court to also issue same order in other cases as well. Court remarked that it would take around ten days for shifting F-8 kachehri to new complex. Justice Farooq said that this bench was granting protective bail to petitioner and Imran Khan could approach relevant court within given time period in judicial complex Islamabad.

Meanwhile, two-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard petition for three-week protective bail to Imran Khan in murder case of lawyer registered by Quetta police.

Court, however after hearing arguments granted two-week bail to PTI chief and instructed him to approach trial court for further relief. Similarly IHC extended stay order till June 14 on proceeding of Toshakhana criminal case against Imran Khan.

Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard case filed by PTI’s Chairman against proceedings of trial court on complaint lodged by District Election Commissioner Islamabad for not disclosing information about gifts received from Toshakhana.

At outset of hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyer Khawaja Harris prayed court to adjourn hearing into case till next week and also extend its stay order against proceeding.
