President Zardari, Putin vow to strengthen bilateral ties

ASHGABAT: President Asif Ali Zardari and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin held an informal meeting on sidelines of International Forum on ‘Interrelation of Times and Civilisations-Basis of Peace and Development’ at Ashgabat in Turkmenistan.
During meeting, both Presidents underlined need of further strengthening bilateral ties. Two sides exchanged best wishes and pleasant words for each other. DR Asim Hussain was also present during talks.
Earlier in day, President Asif Ali Zardari held meeting with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of Turkmen People and Chairman of Peoples Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat.
Pakistan and Turkmenistan have desired to strengthen their bilateral ties in all spheres especially trade and connectivity. Meetings discussed entire gamut of bilateral relations.
Asif Ali Zardari reiterated invitations to Turkmen President and national leader to visit Pakistan.
President Zardari also addressed an international forum held here in Turkmen capital, where he stressed an enhanced focus on promotion of regional connectivity as well as cultural and economic collaboration in region.
President, addressing forum on ‘Interrelation of Times and Civilisations-Basis for Peace and Development’ said that Pakistan and Turkmenistan shared deep-rooted bond of brotherhood which was built on mutual respect and commonalities of faith and shared vision for better and peaceful future.
Event, held to mark 300th birth anniversary of Magtymguly Faragi, great Turkmen thinker, poet and philosopher, was also attended by several regional leaders.
In another key meeting, President Zardari engaged with Numan Kurtulmus, Speaker of Turkish Parliament, where he highlighted need to improve railroad connectivity between Pakistan and Turkiye to boost trade and economic cooperation.
He called for stronger bilateral ties and increased exchanges of delegations between two countries. Meeting, which took place on sidelines of forum, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti.
