ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi visited Embassy of Palestine here and expressed solidarity with Palestinian people who were being subjected to indiscriminate killings by Israel.
He urged international community to condemn Israel’s brutalities and its disproportionate reaction which killed thousands of innocent people. He called for an immediate ceasefire and opening up of humanitarian corridor to send aid to people lacking food, electricity and water.
President also met Ambassador of State of Palestine Ahmed Jawad Rabei and expressed solidarity with Palestinian people on behalf of government and people of Pakistan.
He said that Pakistan would always stand by Palestine and would only accept solution that was acceptable to Palestinians. He said that United Nations should debate atrocities that happened in Palestine and UNSC should pass resolution to stop Israeli atrocities.
He said that such brutal actions created more possibilities of hatred leading to more wars, adding that OIC should raise strong voice in support of Palestine.
“On behalf of Pakistani people, we condemn brutalities happening in Gaza, disproportionate reaction of Israel and apartheid for last 30-40 years. We condemn that people are being brutalised and killed. In fact, hospital in Gaza was bombed and more than 500 people died. All this creates more bitterness”, President added.
President Dr Alvi underscored that war totally destroyed any possibility of peace, adding that walls were being raised to stop Palestinian people from trying to achieve peaceful two-state solution.
He said that such walls would not withstand and would be breached by people. “As long as two-state solution is being suppressed, people will react”, he maintained.
Palestinian Ambassador thanked President for visiting Embassy of Palestine during such difficult times. He termed Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide of Palestinian people. Earlier, President recorded his remarks in condolence book in Palestinian Embassy and expressed his deep condolences with people of Palestine and families of martyrs, who lost their lives in barbaric Israeli attacks.
