President, PM urge nation to follow Iqbal’s teachings to make country prosperous

ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi and interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar have paid rich tribute to Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal on his 146th birth anniversary. In their separate messages, they said Dr. Allama Iqbal was great benefactor of Muslims of sub-continent, who envisioned idea of separate homeland for them and later his dream was translated into reality.
President Dr. Arif Alvi in his message said Iqbal was great thinker who imbibed in Muslims spirit of unity, through his writings and poetry. He said in order to make Pakistan a prosperous nation, we need to follow Allama Iqbal’s teachings on Islam and his philosophy of ‘Khudi’ that believes in promotion of self-respect and human dignity.
In his message on Iqbal Day, interim Prime Minister Kakar said Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal awakened consciousness of Muslims of subcontinent about their basic rights which created spirit of unity among Muslims.
Interim Prime Minister said Iqbal’s philosophy of ‘Khudi’ is unique transformation for humanity to achieve success in this world and hereafter. He said Iqbal dreamed of Pakistan country of peace, political tolerance and brotherhood. Prime Minister urged youth to play key role in service and development of country with positive and progressive thinking as envisioned by Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi said Allama Iqbal’s philosophy and thought is beacon of light for humanity. In his message, he said national poet taught young generation to create their own world instead of depending on others by giving passionate message of ‘Khudi’.
He said Iqbal made practical effort to awaken Muslims from their slumber for their true identity.
He said solution to multifaceted challenges we face today lies in universal teachings of Iqbal.
Interim Information Minister said youth can truly serve Pakistan and Muslim Ummah by adopting Iqbal’s thought.er patient with Congo virus has been admitted to private hospital, raising alarm bells for provincial Health Department, which has initiated medical tests for patient’s family members.
According to details, 42-year-old resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Farrukh Bari was admitted to hospital two days ago with high fever and other Congo virus-related symptoms. He was kept in isolation at hospital, and laboratory report from Aga Khan University Hospital has confirmed that he has contracted Congo virus.
According to District Health Officer Dr. Shakeel Qureshi, samples for medical tests of patient’s family members have also been sent to laboratory for evaluation to ascertain potential spread of infection.
Sources at AKUH said that five more patients with symptoms of virus were admitted to hospital, increasing number of affected patients at AKUH to 16. Furthermore, one affected patient tested negative for Congo virus.
Meanwhile, AKUH spokesperson Shabbir Alam denied that messages circulating on social media and WhatsApp regarding need for platelet donations was issued by Aga Khan Hospital. “AKUH operates its own blood bank, where platelets are provided to hospitalised patients as needed,” he confirmed.
