Karachi: Congratulations have poured in after Pakistan’s star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem made country proud when he bagged gold medal at Paris Olympics 2024, country first-ever medal at tournament setting new Olympic record with throw of 92.97 meters.

In dramatic final that captivated audiences worldwide, Arshad Nadeem delivered an extraordinary performance, ending Pakistan’s 32-year wait for an Olympic gold medal. This victory not only marks Pakistan’s first individual gold medal and first medal in track and field but also highlights a rare podium finish for South Asia in this discipline. PM Shehbaz Sharif Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt congratulations to entire Pakistani nation as javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem clinched gold medal at Paris Olympics, setting new world record. In his statement, he lauded Arshad Nadeem’s exceptional achievement, highlighting that athlete not only secured gold but also made history by setting an Olympic record.

Arshad Nadeem’s incredible performance saw him throw beyond 90 meters on two occasions, without committing single foul, showcasing his remarkable skill and dedication. Prime Minister emphasised that Arshad Nadeem’s victory is magnificent gift to people of Pakistan, marking proud moment in nation’s sports history. He added that Nadeem’s record-breaking achievement has immortalised him in both Pakistan’s and Olympics’ history books. Arshad Nadeem’s victory is being celebrated across country, as he becomes symbol of national pride and inspiration for future generations of athletes. President Asif Ali Zardari lauded Arshad Nadeem for his historic victory at Paris Olympics, declaring him pride of entire nation. In heartfelt message, he acknowlethat Arshad Nadeem’s remarkable achievement is not just personal triumph, but victory for entire country. President Zardari emphasised significance of Arshad Nadeem’s brilliant performance in Olympic final, where he set new Olympic record. He highlighted that winning medal for Pakistan on such prestigious international platform is moment of immense pride for nation. President expressed his admiration for Nadeem’s dedication and hard work, noting that his success has illuminated Pakistan’s name on global stage. He prayed for Arshad Nadeem’s continued success in future, hoping that he will bring further glory to country. COAS, chief Navy, chief Air Force and Joint Chief of Staff Committee also congratulated Arshad Nadeem on historic winning gold and breaking Olympic history record.  Minister for Board of Investment, Privatisation and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Arshad Nadeem for his historic gold medal win at Paris Olympics 2024. In statement on X, he lauded Arshad Nadeem’s remarkable achievement, noting significance of victory in ending Pakistan’s 32-year wait for an Olympic gold medal. “Very good! Congratulations and tribute to athlete Arshad Nadeem for winning gold medal for Pakistan in Olympics after 32 years. Masha Allah! Arshad Nadeem made entire nation proud by performing exceptionally well in Paris Olympics,” Khan remarked. 

“He has created new history by breaking 118-year-old record of javelin throw at Olympics.”  Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has congratulated Arshad Nadeem for his extraordinary achievement at Paris Olympics, where he clinched gold medal in javelin throw and set new Olympic record. Naqvi praised Nadeem, calling him true hero of nation and expressing pride that all Pakistanis feel for this monumental victory.  He lauded Nadeem for raising green flag high with his skill and professional approach, highlighting how his hard work and prayers of nation have paid off in such remarkable way. Naqvi emphasised that Nadeem’s victory is not just personal triumph but victory for all of Pakistan, moment that will be cherished and remembered for years to come. Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani extended heartfelt congratulations to Arshad Nadeem for his remarkable achievement at Paris Olympics, where Nadeem not only secured gold medal in javelin throw but also set new world record. Gilani expressed immense pride in Nadeem’s accomplishments, stating that athlete has brought great honour to Pakistan by continuing his impressive streak of achievements on global stage. Gilani praised Nadeem’s dedication and hard work, noting that his success has filled nation with pride. He emphasised that Nadeem’s efforts in javelin throw are truly commendable, and his world-record-breaking performance stands as testament to his exceptional talent and commitment to sport. Meanwhile, in heartwarming gesture, Sindh government has announced reward of Rs 50 million for Arshad Nadeem, Pakistani athlete who made history by winning gold medal at Paris Olympics. Announcement was made by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, who praised Nadeem’s exceptional achievement. “We are thrilled to announce a reward of Rs 50 million for Arshad Nadeem, our national hero, on behalf of Sindh government,” said Mayor Wahab. “This is moment of immense pride for Pakistan, and we want to recognise Nadeem’s dedication and hard work.” 26-year-old athlete from Khanewal, Punjab, won gold medal in javelin throw event, shattering 118-year-old Olympic record with throw of 92.27 meters. Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Minister Atta Tarar, sports and TV and film artists also congratulated Arsha Nadeem on historic win.
