President pays visit to Mazar-e-Quaid

KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari paid visit to mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to pay respect to Father of Nation after assuming office of President.

It was Asif Ali Zardari’s first visit to Karachi after assuming charge of office of President for second time. President Zardari laid floral wreath at grave of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and offered fateha. He penned down comments in book of visitors.

Asif Ali Zardari was received by Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Provincial president PPP Sindh Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and other senior officers of Sindh government.

 Earlier, on his arrival at mausoleum, smartly turned out contingent of cadets from Pakistan Military Academy Kakul presented guard of honour to President Zardari. Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari to congratulate him on assuming office of head of state.

President’s Secretariat in statement said both presidents exchanged views on matters of bilateral importance and underscored need for further improving cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

President Zardari thanked Turkish President for his telephone call and warm wishes.

“President Asif Ali Zardari wished Happy Ramadhan to Turkish nation and desired to see role of Turkish women in Islamic world,” read statement. He desired to soon invite President Erdogan to visit Pakistan. Turkish President Recep Erdogan vowed to stand by Pakistan in fight against terrorism.

moreover, Zardari has decided not to take salary from government owing to economic challenges being faced by country. His decision was announced via statement by President Secretariat Press Wing.

He took this decision to encourage prudent financial management in country. President considered it essential not to burden national exchequer and preferred to forgo his salary,” statement read.

Post by President of Pakistan account on X detailed his intentions for taking crucial step. “Purpose of President Zardari’s decision is to encourage prudent financial management in country,” post stated.
