President not satisfied with AG, changes lawyer

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has shown lack of confidence on Attorney General and appointed Salman Akram Raja as his personal lawyer in Punjab, KP election date case.
Supreme Court (SC) bench conducted hearing of suo motu notice on delay in election date announcements for Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies.
During hearing, President Arif Alvi’s Secretary said that Attorney General gave his stance. Secretary added that President Arif Alvi appointed Salman Akram Raja as his counsel. Secretary sought permission from top court for Raja to represent President. Chief Justice permitted Raja to represent President in election date case.
It is noteworthy to mention here that Supreme Court bench conducted hearing of suo motu notice taken on delay in election date announcements for Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies in which four judges distanced themselves from bench. Later, hearing was adjourned till today (Tuesday).
