President nods Saeed Ahmed to look-after as NPT Chairman

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi approved to give look-after charge of Chairman of National Press Trust (NPT) to Saeed Ahmed Sheikh, grade-20 officer of Information Group. Saeed Ahmed Sheikh would continue to serve as NPT Chairman on look-after basis till regular appointment of NPT Chairman.

President also approved to remove ex-chairman of NPT Munir Ahmed Khan from position over his incompetence and embezzlement of public funds. He also approved MP-1 scale for post of NPT Chairman. President gave above said approvals under National Press Trust (Appointment of Chairman) Act 1972.

Meanwhile Dr Arif Alvi condoled with family members of soldiers recently martyred in terrorist attacks in various areas of country. He contacted family members of Naek Fazal Janan over phone, who embraced martyrdom in South Waziristan on April 8. He also expressed condolence to family members of Naek Nazeer Ullah Mehsood and Naib Subedar Hazrat Gul who were martyred in Khyber Barra on April 8. President Alvi telephoned brother of Sepoy Hamid Rasool who was martyred in South Waziristan on April 5. Whole nation is united to completely uproot menace of terrorism from country. President prayed to Allah Almighty for elevation of ranks of martyrs in paradise and grant of courage to bear this irreparable loss.
