President lauds HIT’s technical capabilities, new initiatives

Taxila: President Arif Alvi visiting Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) applauded its efforts to attain self-reliance through indigenisation, military said.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that President was briefed on HIT’s technical capabilities, production activities, indigenisation efforts, major Research and Development (R&D) projects and recently undertaken initiatives to improve industry’s efficiency. President Alvi visited various factories and witnessed work on ongoing projects. “President took keen interest in ongoing R&D projects including Bullet Proofing and IED protection of Military Vehicles and manufacturing of tank and Artillery Gun barrels and systems,” statement added.
He also hailed HIT’s efforts to acquire modern technologies for combat vehicles and systems.
“President expressed his full confidence in capabilities of HIT and appreciated commitment of HIT to transform the organisation into modern defence production establishment so as to adequately meet requirements of Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies in line with international standards,” said military’s media wing. Earlier on arrival, Lieutenant General Syed Aamer Raza, Chairman HIT, received President.
President Dr Arif Alvi said that there is great potential of diversifying trade relations and entering into joint ventures in areas of agriculture, IT, textile, energy, logistics, housing and construction between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
Meanwhile, talking to Chairman of Lower House of Kazakh Parliament Koshanov Yerlan Zhakanovich here, he said existing trade level of 219.12 million dollars needed to be substantially increased keeping in view immense potential that existed between two countries by building new and improving existing linkages through roads and railway networks. He said that trade by Kazakhstan and other Central Asian Republics through Karachi and Gwadar is an important element of Vision Central Asia Policy.
President said international community should take strong exception to atrocities being perpetually committed by Indian Security Forces against innocent Kashmiris.
