President imposes fine on accused in harassment case

Islamabad: An accused of harassment case was fined to “Discourage unnecessary litigation filed on flimsy grounds” in case involving an airport staff member, President’s secretariat revealed in press release.
“In order to discourage unnecessary litigation filed on flimsy grounds, President Dr Arif Alvi has imposed fine upon accused in harassment case to bear airfare charges of complainant for filing representations on flimsy grounds in hasty manner and putting alleged victim under further mental and financial hardships by making her travel from Karachi to Islamabad with her counsel to attend hearing,’ statement read.
Female assistant sub-inspector with Airport Security Force posted in Sukkur came forward with complaints of sexual harassment against Airport Manager claiming that he had pressurised her to enter wedlock with him to which she ultimately gave in.
