President for increasing cooperation among varsities of Islamic world

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has underscored need for increasing cooperation among universities of Islamic countries to promote research and support cultural and educational institutions.

He urged universities of Islamic world to enhance collaboration in areas of water resource management, environment related issues, science and technology and artificial intelligence to make fast decisions and accelerate process of development.

Talking to Director General Islamic Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) Dr Salim M. Al Malik who along with members of his delegation called on him here President highlighted need for focusing on cyber security and artificial intelligence by Islamic World to meet challenges of 21st century. He said universities needed to develop human resources to speed up pace of social and economic progress.

He emphasised need for promoting online education, which was cost effective and accessible to students. It is worth-stating that ICESCO has been working for promoting cooperation and collaboration among Islamic world in fields of education, science and culture. It is making efforts to build stronger and more cohesive Islamic community to face current day’s challenges. 

Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy, Chairman Higher Education Commission, Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed and Secretary to President Waqar Ahmed were present.

Earlier, President conferred honorary degree of PhD by Quaid-e-Azam University on Dr Salim M. Al Malik in recognition of his services for promoting cooperation among Islamic countries in fields of education and research.
