President for enhanced collaboration of Pakistani varsities with Rhodes Trust

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi stressed need to enhance collaboration and cooperation between Pakistani universities and Rhodes Trust at University of Oxford. President in meeting with delegation of Rhodes Trust headed by former Senate Chairman Waseem Sajjad and CEO of Rhodes Trust of UK, Elizabeth Kiss also urged Pakistani universities to strengthen their linkages with world’s famous institutions particularly University of Oxford.

He said that provision of scholarships as well as support and counseling of Pakistani students by Rhodes Trust was appreciable. President Alvi said that counseling of students would help enrich their capabilities.

Rhodes Trust CEO apprised President of education sector and provision of scholarships to Pakistani students. She said Rhodes Trust desired to enhance linkage between Pakistani universities and Oxford University. She said foreign education would enable students bring positive changes in society.

Rhodes Trust CEO said Pakistani students had availed scholarships in fields of politics, law, science, arts and governance. Besides, various prominent Pakistani personalities including former Senate Chairman Waseem Sajjad, Islamabad High Court Judge Babar Sattar and Shahid Javed Burki had benefited from Rhodes scholarships.
