ISTANBUL: President Asif Ali Zardari, who left Pakistan for Lisbon, Portugal to condole the death of Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, held a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul.
The meeting took place at the Ataturk Airport State Guesthouse before Erdogan's departure for Malaysia. Zardari, who was preparing to leave Türkiye, met with the Turkish leader prior to a scheduled press conference. Details of their conversation have not been disclosed.
Earlier in the day, President Asif Ali Zardari left for Lisbon, Portugal to condole over the death of Prince Karim Aga Khan IV. The President will meet His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan to extend his condolences on the passing of his father.
According to a statement issued by the President House, Asif Ali Zardari will also meet President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. Meanwhile, Asif Zardari in Lisbon offered condolences to Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini on death of his father, Prince Karim Aga Khan, according to an official statement.
President Zardari expressed his heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan, saying that the nation mourned the loss of a “True friend” and a “great philanthropist”.
President Zardari said that he had deeply been touched by the passing of the late Aga Khan, with whom he had personal relations.
He lauded the late Aga Khan’s contributions to Pakistan’s social and economic development, particularly in health care, education, community development, and poverty alleviation.
