ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has reiterated Pakistan’s call for an immediate reversal of Indian government’s illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, urging international community to take practical steps to hold India accountable for its egregious human rights violations in IIOJK.
President in his message on Kashmir Black Day annually observed on October 27 called upon world community to play its part in facilitating a peaceful and just resolution of long-standing dispute of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with relevant Security Council Resolutions and wishes of Kashmiri people. He said this year, October 27 marked completion of seventy-five years of illegal occupation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
“We observe Kashmir Black Day to remember sacrifices of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their just struggle for their right to self-determination by condemning ongoing atrocities of Indian occupation forces over last seven and a half decades,” he remarked. He said on Kashmir Black Day, entire Pakistani nation reaffirmed unwavering support to their Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their just struggle for freedom.
He said many generations of innocent Kashmiri men, women and children had known nothing but Indian brutality, bloodshed and torture.
IIOJK remains under Indian military siege, exacerbated by draconian curbs on fundamental freedoms of people of occupied territory, he added. President Alvi said situation had worsened considerably over last three years with India’s illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019 which stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its special status under Indian constitution. “These actions violate United Nations Security Council resolutions which stipulate that final disposition of State of Jammu and Kashmir would be made in accordance with will of people of Kashmir through a free and impartial plebiscite to be conducted under auspices of United Nations,” he commented. President said for last seven decades, Jammu and Kashmir dispute had been a battle of hope against overwhelming odds, courage against fear and sacrifice against tyranny.
We value blood of thousands of Kashmiris who have sacrificed their lives for decades in pursuit of freedom from India’s illegal occupation. Kashmiri brothers and sisters will always find Pakistan voicing cause of Kashmir dispute at every available world forum,” President remarked.
