President Alvi calls for collective efforts to counter Islamophobia

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has called for collective efforts to address incidents of Islamophobia across globe through forum of Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC). Talking to Pakistan’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative-designate to OIC Jeddah, Syed Muhammad Fawad Sher here President said that OIC should take effective steps for protection of fundamental human rights of Muslim minorities across globe.
He said that world should take notice of rising incidents of violence against minorities, especially Muslims, in India. He said Indian Hindutva ideology should be discouraged worldwide.
Dr Arif Alvi also hoped that all OIC nations would make a positive development toward resolution of Kashmir issue and address plight of people of Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
He expressed his concern over Israel’s violence and illegal actions against innocent Palestinians. He said peace would remain obscure in Middle East unless issue of Palestine is resolved. President said Pakistan works for promotion of science and technological cooperation among OIC countries through OIC Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation.
He said Pakistan can offer online education and IT skills to member countries through Allama Iqbal Open University and Virtual University’s educational modules. Dr Arif Alvi asked ambassador-designate to work for enhancing trade among member countries of OIC.
