President Alvi approves removal of Ahad Cheema as SAPM

ISLAMABAD: President Arif Alvi approved removal of Ahad Khan Cheema from his post of Advisor to Prime Minister for Establishment.

An ex-civil servant, who served in grade BPS-20 for more than 15 years, also remained Adviser to then-PM Shehbaz Sharif on establishment.

On instruction of Election Commission of Pakistan, caretaker Prime Minister sent summary to President for removal of Ahad Cheema from his post.

President approved removal of Ahad Cheema on advice of interim Prime Minister under Article 48 of Constitution. On December 19, Election Commission of Pakistan ordered to remove Special Assistant to Prime Minister Ahad Cheema from his post. Verdict was issued after hearing on petitions moved against federal ministers and advisers over their political associations.

Election Commission had issued notices to Minister for Privatization Fawad Hassan Fawad, Adviser Ahad Cheema and Principal Secretary to PM Tauqeer Shah. Election Commission of Pakistan in its verdict directed Secretary Cabinet Division to delist Ahad Cheema as SAPM.
